- Say whether your firm is thinking of replacing its system.
- For each statement, choose the answer that best describes your firm today: No, Partly, Mostly or Fully.
- Choose "Not sure" if you do not know. It counts as zero, and not knowing is a finding in itself.
- Work through all six areas, then choose See my results.
- Read your overall capability score and your score for each area.
- Look at "Where to focus first" for your weakest areas and practical next steps.
- If you are thinking of moving, continue to step 2 to build an independent requirements specification from your answers.
- Print or save your results, or send them to us to discuss. Nothing is sent unless you choose to.

About this tool
The practice management review is a free self-assessment for law firms of any size. It asks 27 short statements about how your firm uses its practice management system today, grouped into six areas: case and matter management, time and billing, documents and email, finance and reporting, data and integration, and people and adoption.
Who it is for
Managing partners, practice managers, COLPs and COFAs, finance and IT leads, and anyone who suspects the firm is not getting full value from its system. In our experience, most firms use around 40% of what their system can do, and many are thinking about replacing it. This review shows where the gaps really are before you decide.
What you get
- A score for each area, so you can see where the firm is strong and where it is not.
- The areas where improvement would make the biggest difference, with practical next steps.
- If you are thinking of moving, a direct route into step 2: an independent requirements specification that uses your answers.
How it works
Choose the answer that best describes your firm today; "not sure" is a useful answer too. The statements cover the things that most often separate a well-used system from an under-used one: matter templates and workflows, central key dates, risk alerts for your COLP and COFA, anti-money laundering checks, time recording habits, document and email filing, reconciliations and reporting, connected systems, data you can export and restore, and training.
Everything runs in your browser. Your answers are not sent to us or stored by us. Your result is kept only in this browser tab, so the requirements builder can use it if you go on to step 2. You can choose to bring a summary to our contact form, and edit it before sending.
What it is not
It is a structured self-assessment, not an audit or a benchmark against other firms. It names no products and favours none.
